Manufacturing process of bucket teeth

Excavator bucket teeth, like human teeth, are important wearing parts of excavators. It is a bucket tooth composed of a tooth tip and a tooth seat, and the two are connected by pins.
The casting process and flow of a part is very important, which is related to whether the quality of the entire mechanical equipment is up to standard. So now let’s talk about the technological process of excavator bucket teeth.

  • The technological process of excavator bucket teeth: sand casting, forging die casting and precision casting. The cost of precision casting is moderate, but the requirements for raw materials are very strict, and the process level is relatively high. Due to the composition, the wear resistance and quality of some precision casting bucket teeth far exceed that of forged and die-casting bucket teeth. This is the main manufacturing process currently on the market.
  • The cost of forging and die-casting is high, and the craftsmanship and quality of the excavator bucket teeth produced are also good. The cost of sand casting is low, and the process level and quality are not as good as the other two processes.

Bucket tooth manufacturing process

  • Forged teeth
Forged bucket teeth are generally made of alloy steel, and then use a forging press to apply pressure to a special metal billet, and then extrude at a high temperature to refine the crystal material in the forging and produce plastic deformation, thereby obtaining certain mechanical properties. After metal forging, its structure can be improved, which can ensure that the forged bucket teeth have good mechanical properties, are more wear-resistant, and have a longer service life.
  • Cast bucket teeth
Cast bucket teeth are generally made of austenitic ductile iron, and then liquid metal is poured into a casting cavity that fits the shape of the part. After cooling and solidification, the parts or blanks are obtained. This process can provide good abrasion resistance and permeability.
  • Generally speaking, due to the material structure of cast teeth, its wear resistance, toughness and penetration are not as good as forged teeth, but it can provide lighter weight, better hardness and cheaper price.
